Wai Khru 2012

As a truly international school in the heart of Bangkok, NIST students started the year by uniting and participating in a traditional Wai Khru ceremony, held at the School’s multi-purpose hall on Thursday 30th August. The Wai Khru ceremony is an important tradition in Thailand where students pay respect to their teachers and express their gratitude. Traditionally at the start of each new academic year NIST hosts and participates in this day of respect and expression of gratitude.

The NIST parent body provided a beautiful variety of Thai style flower arrangements in golden trays and meticulously arranged. Students from Early Years, to Secondary School participated by presenting their teachers and school administrators with these beautiful arrangements. Secondary students emceed the events, performing the Wai Khru chant and explaining the message behind this wonderful ceremony.
