EMECS-thon is an international event consisting of an embedded-systems-marathon where the participating teams have 48 hours to develop an embedded-systems-project from scratch with total freedom to choose their theme.
EMECS-thon was organised for the first time in April 2012 at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) in Trondheim by students in the EMECS programme. The event was supported by professors from NTNU and industry partners at Energy Micro. The competition takes place annually in spring and more universities, partners, and participants join every year. In 2013 all the universities of the EMECS consortium (Norwegian University of Science and Technology, University of Kaiserslautern and University of Southampton) participated, and for 2014 three new universities joined EMECS-thon (Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology, Al Quds University and "Politehnica” University of Timisoara).
Erasmus Mundus Association is one of the supporters of EMECS-thon 2014. In this context, Leasa Weimer, the EMA President said that "It is with pleasure that EMA sponsors the EMECS-thon. This international event captures the spirit of Erasmus Mundus as global talent showcase their skills. EMA wishes the participants and the organisers a very successful event."
EMECS-thon competition is addressed to the students from the EMECS, EMSE and NordSecMob master programmes, and also to any students from the technical universities that are a part of this event. The attendance is only possible in the specified partner universities.
There are no fees for participants since the event is sponsored by several companies from both industry and research areas.
